Claire’s Asbestos Recall
It has been reported today (via Twitter and the international news outlets) about accessory store Claire’s Asbestos Recall. In this recall, the UK is affected by some of the products, and as such if you have shopped at Claire’s you should read the link here to the statement from Claire’s.
Below is an Extract from the Liverpool Echo newspaper;
“Claire’s Accessories has issued a formal warning informing its customers it is recalling a number of make-up sets following allegations they contain asbestos. The retailer, which specialises in children’s cosmetics and accessories, tweeted the warning after a set in the USA was reportedly found to have traces of the substance.
Asbestos is harmful and, if inhaled, is linked to a number of asbestos diseases and certain types of cancer.
The US news channel NBC reported a mother of a six-year-old child in the states sent one of the kits off to be independently tested and received the results back confirming that the product contained tremolite asbestos.
The warning has been extended to products sold in the UK and a statement has been issued on the chain’s official Twitter account for its Europe branches.”
It is very important that if you have bought any of the products involved in the Claire’s Asbestos recall, that you take them back to the store.
Asbestos when inhaled will cause many diseases in your lungs and it is especially bad for children to inhale. This case is particularly bad as the substance is in powder form in a makeup set, meaning it is already in dust form and is applied on your face where you breathe…
We can not stress enough that this product is very dangerous to your children’s health and as such isolate it immediately and contact the company for a full refund!
