Hazardous Waste Compliance

Asbestos Waste Must Be Disposed of Correctly - By Law

Asbestos waste is classified as hazardous waste under the Hazardous Waste Regulations 2005. Any asbestos-containing material (ACM) ready for disposal - including the packaging it was removed in - must be collected, transported, and disposed of by a licensed waste carrier, to a licensed waste facility.

Safeline Environmental is a licensed asbestos waste carrier. We manage the entire chain - from collection at your premises through to final disposal - with full consignment documentation at every stage.

What counts as asbestos waste?

Under HSE guidelines, asbestos waste includes:

  • Any asbestos-containing material ready for disposal
  • Packaging and double-wrapped bags used in removal
  • Contaminated PPE (suits, gloves, respirator filters)
  • Tools and equipment that cannot be decontaminated
  • Asbestos-contaminated soil or rubble
  • Household items containing asbestos (old blankets, hair dryers, mattresses with chrysotile)

Materials containing more than 0.1% asbestos are classified as hazardous waste in England and Wales.

We also offer a combined removal and disposal service. See our asbestos removal page for full project services.

What documentation do I receive?

You receive full consignment notes for all hazardous asbestos waste, plus waste transfer notes, confirming lawful disposal at a licensed facility. These form part of your compliance file.
